As the former City and Regional Planning (CRP) Department head and faculty emeritus, Michael McDougall provided CRP with the vision, the leadership and the energy to always seek excellence in urban design as a fundamental planning skill. His experiences as a youth in Macau and Southeast Asia demonstrated that seeing the world made for better urban design decision making. He wanted all students to travel, to be challenged by the diversity of the world and to gain the richness provided by different cultures. Michael is known for his work as chief designer of Foster City’s multiple neighborhood design plan, and his beliefs in variety and form.
